Credit reporting
agencies/credit bureaus gather all credit related
information about individuals and they compile that
information in the form of credit reports or files.
Creditors, lenders, credit grantors and other businesses
make use of this information to evaluate an individual
when they apply for loans, insurance, mortgage,
employment, etc. If you want to have a look at your
credit report, the best way is to call any one of the
credit bureaus and attain one. A copy of your report may
cost you around $10 or in case of additional information
like credit score, around $15. An individual is eligible
for a free credit report – if an individual is
unemployed and plans to apply for one in the next two
months, if an individual is into social welfare, if an
individual has evidence that there are some false
reporting/inaccurate entries in his credit report and
wants to dispute the same. The three major credit
bureaus from where you can source your credit reports
are – Equifax, Esperian (formerly TRW), and TransUnion. |
